GIRLS JV BASKETBALL: Elizabeth Zoeller scored 12 points and Shelby Mathias added eight for New Riegel in a 31-18 win over Hopewell-Loudon. Kiley Siegel led the Chieftains with six.

n Genoa upended Fostoria 35-29. Sierra Cannon scored nine points for FHS.

n Seneca East beat Calvert 24-17. Brette Stockmaster led the Tigers with eight points. Danielle Kontak had five for Calvert.

BOYS FRESHMAN BASKETBALL: Brandon Arbogast scored 15 points and Mitchell Kramer had 10 in New Riegel’s 38-30 win over Carey. Gavin Woods netted 13 points for Carey.

GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Calvert’s game at Cardinal Stritch Saturday will start at 3:30 p.m.

BOYS HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: New Riegel’s home game Saturday against McComb has been moved to a 5 p.m. start.

JUNIOR HIGH GIRLS BASKETBALL: Calvert’s seventh grade beat Seneca East 14-8. Maddie Brown scored 10 to lead Calvert. Macey Phillips led Seneca East with four. Calvert also won the eighth grade game 17-14. Maddie Brown had eight points. Maria Goshe scored three for Seneca East.

n In eighth grade action, Old Fort defeated Sandusky St. Mary’s 28-26. Old Fort’s leading scores were Sydney Hossler and Hannah Bilger who each had six points.

n Old Fort’s seventh grade fell to Sandusky St. Mary’s 26-19. Madison Guth led Old Fort with six points.

JUNIOR HIGH BOYS BASKETBALL: Mohawk’s eighth grade defeated Seneca East, 34-30. Mohawk’s leading scorers were Cole Miller, who had 11 points, Ryan Lacey recorded six points, while Zack Binau and Tyler Tusing each added five points.

BASEBALL: Columbian will host a coaches clinic Dec. 14 for area youth to high school coaches. Discussion will range from practice organization to philosophies on hitting, pitching, and catching. Clinic times are 9 a.m.-noon for the beginning session and 12:30-2 p.m. for the second session. Cost is $15 for the beginning session and $10 for the second. Visit for a registration form.
