GIRLS JV BASKETBALL: New Riegel hammered Lakota 47-5, thanks to Liz Zoeller’s 14 points and Leah Bouillon’s nine.

n Sandusky St. Mary beat Calvert 44-37. Kristan Bowers and Amber Perry each scored 12 points for Calvert, with Bowers grabbing 12 rebounds.

n Old Fort beat Vanlue 31-15 behind 13 points from Hali Kimmet. Paige Kin scored six to lead the Wildcats.

FRESHMAN GIRLS BASKETBALL: Mohawk defeated Kenton 37-29. Chelsey Trusty had 15 points to lead Mohawk, while Beth Dundore had nine.

n Mohawk defeated Findlay 19-10. Chelsey Trusty had nine points Abbie Thiery had four for Mohawk.

BOYS JV BASKETBALL: Carey beat Upper Scioto Valley 48-35.

NFL PUNT, PASS AND KICK: Gavin McLane and Logan Beaston earned high honors at the Dec. 1 state NFL Punt, Pass and Kick Competition. McLane won the boys 6- to 7-year-old championship with a distance of 154-6. Beaston took second in the 8- to 9-year-old division after qualifying for the third year in a row. The two also go to display their skills during halftime of the Cleveland Browns game with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

FUNDRAISERS: Fostoria High’s boys basketball team is selling Great Scot shopping spree tickets (90 seconds in Great Scot). Drawing occurs during the Dec. 17 home game with Elmwood. For more information, contact assistant coach Gabe Sierra at or (419) 937-7973.

n Fostoria High’s boys basketball team will hold a Dinner & Hoops event Dec. 28. A dinner of Dell’s barbecue ribs or chicken, baked potato, slaw and a drink begins at 5 p.m. in the FHS cafeteria. Fostoria hosts Upper Sandusky that night, with the junior varsity starting at 6 p.m.
