Boys Basketball Roundup: Blue Jackets can’t handle the Truth
NEW RIEGEL – Maumee Valley Country jumped out to a 16-5 lead by the end of the first quarter and had two players combine for 31 points Tuesday in a 57-32 win over New Riegel.
Thad Woodard netted 17 points for the Hawks (5-1) and Truth Farman scored 15. Rashad Woodley hauled in six rebounds.
Tim Ink’s 10 points and Jake Dryfuse’s eight led the Blue Jackets (1-4). Michael Kirian hauled in eight boards.
Black Knights KO Chieftains
BASCOM – Sawyer Junge netted 17 points and Marcus Brand nearly had a double-double Tuesday in Van Buren’s 60-24 runaway win over Hopewell-Loudon.
Brand backed Junge with nine points and 11 rebounds for the Black Knights (2-3).
Braxton Fasone, Adam Endicott, Jameson Jacobs, Daniel Roberts and Aaron Franklin each added six points. Jameson also grabbed eight rebounds.
Tyler Imes scored seven points for the Chieftains (2-2) and Ryan Lommerse had six.
Redmen board up Tigers
ATTICA – Seneca East shot well, it just didn’t get to shoot enough.
Bucyrus went 32 for 61 from the field and held the Tigers to just two offensive rebounds Tuesday on the way to a 75-42 win.
Greg Patrick popped in 21 points for the Redmen (4-1), Austin Williams scored 16 and Brian Snooffer added 14.
Along with the advantage in rebounding – 20-14 for Bucyrus – the Redmen pulled way in the middle quarters, doubling up the Tigers 20-10 in second and outscoring them 23-13 in the third to forge a 61-35 lead. Turnovers also helped, with Bucyrus committing eight to Seneca East’s 25.
Ethan Caudill drained four 3-pointers en route to 18 points for the Tigers (0-6), who ended 18 for 40 from the field.
Hunter Saylors and Jack Daniel both added seven points.
