Prep Volleyball Roundup: Perry sets record in Calvert win
CAREY – Someone needs to break out the Calvert record books. Amber Perry’s name needs added in.
The Seneca sophomore recorded a school-record 15 blocks in Tuesday’s victory over Carey. She added 12 kills on the offensive end in the 25-13, 25-6, 25-16 win.
Also for Calvert (15-4, 8-0 Midland Athletic League), Meridith Lucius had nine kills, Haley Felter had seven kills and four blocks and Megan Casale handed out 30 assists to go with a pair of aces.
Carey (10-6, 4-4) was led by Shelby Seifert with eight kills. Shelby Kin added five. Seifert also came up with three blocks. Sydney Wentling had 16 assists. Logan Johnson picked up 15 digs and Claire Allison added 12.
Unblemished Blue Jackets
ATTICA – New Riegel sits at 18-0, 8-0 MAL after topping Seneca East 25-7, 25-19, 25-8.
Taylor Arbogast slammed 17 kills to lead New Riegel. Lauren Ladd was right behind her with 15 kills. Kara Scherger chipped in nine. Scherger served six aces, Arbogast five and Morgan Noftz two. Ladd tossed up six assists.
Defensively, Noftz led with 13 digs, Brittany Gillig had eight and Natalie Reinhart seven.
Kristen Bowerman led the Tigers (8-11, 3-5) with six kills, two blocks and two digs. Rachel Bauman had four kills and seven assists.
Williams heads up balanced attack
Maddie Williams led a multi-pronged attack Tuesday as Columbian beat Northern Ohio League foe Willard 25-22, 25-16, 25-18.
“We had a great balanced attack tonight,” TC coach Bill Bonham said.
“Overall it was a good, focused team win,” he said. “We improved from the last time we played them, so that is a positive from the coaching standpoint.”
Williams pounded 10 kills and added six digs for the Tornadoes (11-8, 6-3 NOL).
Alyssa Price and Haley Sendelbach hammered six kills each and Hailee Distel drilled another five.
Taylor Reinbolt and Makayla Sharlow backed them with five digs apiece.
Bucks blast Crestline
CRESTLINE – State-ranked Buckeye Central butchered Crestline 25-3, 25-2, 25-7 Tuesday in North Central Conference play.
Jenna DeLarber smashed 13 kills for the Bucks (16-2, 10-1 NCC), ranked fourth in the latest Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association Division IV poll.
Kilee Kimmel handed out 19 assists and came up with six digs, Brooke Karl added 11 digs and three aces, and Sierra Hanes slammed two blocks against the Bulldogs (2-14, 0-11).
Ram win sets up showdown
UPPER SANDUSKY – Upper Sandusky smashed Bucyrus Tuesday 25-4, 25-10, 25-9, setting up a clash of North Central Conference titans Thursday when the Rams travel to take on Buckeye Central. The teams sit tied atop the NCC with 10-1 league records.
Against Bucyrus, Kalene Johnson led Upper Sandusky (15-2 overall) with 11 kills. Taylor Graboski and Jessi Holly each added nine. Emma Smith set them up to the tune of 23 assists.
On the defensive end, Molly Owens had four blocks. Jenna Holly led with 12 digs.
Lakota upsets St. Joe
KANSAS – Lakota got a balanced team-effort in an upset win over Fremont St. Joe, 25-17, 23-25, 25-23, 25-21.
Katie Park was the only Raider to hit double figures in kills, slamming 10, but several teammates were right behind her. Destiney Long-Meyer had nine kills, Makayla Kiser eight and Bree Long-Meyer seven.
Aubrey Bickford had a double-double with 22 assists and 11 digs. Alaina Bickford led the Raider defense with 28 digs. Kiser added 17 and Bree Long-Meyer had 14.
Lakota improves to 4-11, 2-6 Midland Athletic League. St. Joe drops to 6-13, 4-4..
Burns excellent against Old Fort
BASCOM – Courtney Burns was an offensive force Tuesday night, leading Hopewell-Loudon to a 25-7, 26-24, 25-15 win over Old Fort in Midland Athletic League match.
The Chieftains (9-10, 4-3 MAL) were led by Burns, who posted a double-double with 10 kills and 10 assists. Shelby Sauber also had a strong night, with five kills, 10 digs, 15 assists and eight aces. Kassie Shaver added six kills, 12 digs and two block assists, while Kassie Welly added 12 digs, two aces and Brooklyn Arbogast had four block assists.
Lexi Feindel came up with five digs, two aces and two kills, while Baileigh Searles had 10 digs and Michelle Welly had five.
Shelby Bilger came up with 13 digs for the Stockaders in the loss and Allison Adelsperger had seven assists and five digs.
Peyton Miller backed them up with nine digs, Jordan Magers (3 digs) and Samantha Hartsel both belted four kills, Sara Bell lined three kills and two aces and Krista Ward had four digs.
St. Wendelin sweeps NB
FOSTORIA – Kamry Troike smacked 15 kills and five solo blocks Tuesday to key St. Wendelin’s 25-18, 25-15, 25-15 Midland Athletic League win over North Baltimore.
Chloe Reiter added 15 assists for the Mohawks (9-8, 3-5 MAL), Allie Rutter tallied 11 assists, eight blocks, seven digs and six kills and Hailee Burns registered nine digs and three aces.
Sophia Volpe chipped in 27 digs and three aces and Meghan Reiter lined five kills.
Warriors serve up Bettsville
BETTSVILLE – Aubrie Flood served up six of Mohawk’s 23 aces Tuesday in a 25-5, 25-6, 25-9 Midland Athletic League win over Bettsville.
Flood also tallied five kills and three digs for the Warriors (15-3, 7-1 MAL) and Clara Adelsperger had 19 assists and five aces.
Julie Adelsperger backed them with seven kills, four aces and three digs, Kasey Adelsperger hammered six kills and Sheyanne Wilhelm belted five kills. Ali Konkle came up with five digs and Stacy Clouse handed out five assists.
