Domingues leads TU with third game-winning goal

The Tiffin University women’s soccer team pulled out another victory over Lake Erie 1-0 Sunday afternoon at Paradiso Fields.

Giulianne Domingues was the center for the Dragons’ offensive efforts. TU sits at 3-7-1, with Domingues scoring each of the final goals in those victories.

It was at the 47:48 mark that Lauren Bower took control of the ball and found Domingues streaking down field for the pass. She weaved her way down the field to score off the far left side of the goalkeeper.

Tiffin had six shots, one on goal, and two corner kicks.

Lake Erie had 16 shots, five on goal, and were all saved by the Dragons’ Kellie Gruber.

Tiffin will be on the road, Friday to take on Ferris State. The game will begin at 2 p.m.

Historic tennis season for TU’s women

Tiffin University (15-2, 12-2 GLIAC) finished its best season in Division II history, defeating Ferris State 7-2 Sunday to secure third place in the GLIAC.

Tiffin kicked off doubles play, winning all three of the matches. Abigail Schuster and Rachelmary Brozivich opened with a 9-8 victory, while Malaika Messi and Valentina Mazzola won 8-4. Caroline Nelhage and Chelsea Beck stayed perfect on the season together, taking their record to 17-0 at second doubles with an 8-5 win.

Nelhage also remained undefeated in her singles run, finishing 16-0 with a 6-2, 6-2 win.

Mazzola posted a comeback victory 5-7, 6-3, 10-8, while Messi posted a 6-4, 6-0 win, and Schuster had a 6-1, 6-1 victory to finish out her regular season.

TU women’s golf finish 12th

BIG RAPIDS, MICH -Tiffin University’s women’s golf team finished 12th of 13 teams at the Ferris State Bulldog Invitational. Grand Valley State won the event, shooting 607.

The Dragons shot a 720 , opening up on Day 1 with a 350. Day 2 proved to be a more difficult task, as the Dragons added 20 strokes to finish with a 370. Abby Martin led the team with a 174, while Kamio Espindola carded a 177. Lauren Harris finished strong on the second day to come out at 182.

Carlin Kern fired in 189 and Sophie Baun added 191 respectively.
