TC whirls past Redmen

Columbian (6-8) took every set in singles and doubles play when it hosted Fostoria Monday evening.

Singles play started with TC’s Sarah Guzowski defeating Erica Moore 6-0, 6-0.

The second match up saw Ashley Niedermier go over Fostoria’s Autumn Affholder, 6-2, 6-2.

Columbian’s Kristina Talbot-Koehl bested Jessica Kauffman 6-1, 6-0 in the third and final match.

In doubles play, Columbian’s team of Olivia Smith and Kaelyn Armstrong defeated Fostoria’s Sabra Tate and Jillian Smith, 6-0, 6-1.

The final match of the evening had TC’s Dallas Steward and AnnMarie Petrosino upending Ellen Guan and Destinie Farris, 6-0, 6-0.

Calvert improves to 8-2

MANSFIELD – Calvert traveled to Maple Lake Park for a match against Mansfield St. Peter. The Senecas almost came out with a sweep, but certainly were satisfied with getting a 4-1 win.

Kicking off singles play, Calvert’s Madison Daniel bested St. Pete’s Katie Larsen 6-3, 6-3.

Laura Haley defeated the Spartans’ Sarah Cornell 6-3, 6-3 in the second match.

The Senecas were unable to keep the momentum, dropping one match with St. Pete’s Natalie Zitko defeating Calvert senior CeCi Burtis 6-4, 6-3.

Calvert opened doubles play with a win when Regina Hoepf and Margaret Bowers beat the team of Katie Kowalski and Olivia Kastelic 6-3, 7-5.

Closing out doubles play, Cassie Recker and Kerrigan Kwiat defeated the team of St. Pete’s Hannah Novak and Meredith Thompson, 6-4, 6-2.

Perkins edges Fliers

SANDUSKY- Clyde suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Sandusky Perkins Pirates, 3-2. The loss is the first smudge on the Fliers’ record, bringing the mark to 13-1.

Singles action started with Perkins’ Olivia Rohrbacher defeating Clyde’s Amanda Cahill, 6-2, 6-0.

Clyde answered in the second match with a win by Lexi Weber over Perkins’ Carlee Vaughn 6-1, 6-2.

Clyde once again bested Perkins with Andrea Nearhood defeating Sabrina Nguyen, 6-0, 6-1.

Perkins swept doubles play when the team of Sarah Sullivan and Jenna Goretzki defeated the Fliers’ Brook Smith and Clara Sewell, 6-4, 6-3.

Clyde’s Desiree Boonen and Emi Bowers fell to the team of Tia Knoll and Priscilla Nguyen, 7-6, 6-3 to close out.
