TC has an ace up its sleeve
FOSTORIA – Maddie Williams aced the test Saturday. In a match against Fostoria, the Columbian senior lined 11 aces, in addition to her five kills as the Tornadoes topped the Redmen 25-11, 25-11, 25-12.
Haley Sendelbach added 11 kills and three blocks for TC (3-3). Alyssa Price dished out 10 assists and served four aces of her own while Tessa Fuhrer had eight assists and three aces. Taylor Reinbolt added an 8-of-8 passing day.
SE goes 1-2 in Galion
GALION – Seneca East dropped its first two matches of the day before rebounding to get a win over Mansfield Christian.
The Tigers fell to Western Reserve, 25-19, 25-18, then lost to Galion, 25-12, 25-17.
Seneca East then knocked off Mansfield Christian, 23-25, 25-16, 25-12.
Mykayla Ruffing led Seneca East (2-4) with 21 assists, eight aces, three blocks and two kills. Rachel Bauman had 14 assists, seven digs and eight kills, while Holly Bordner had 11 digs and four kills. Kristen Bowerman led the team with 21 kills, with Cameil Ruffing contributing nine kills, three aces and three blocks.
Old Fort starts with win, then loses pair
ST. MARYS – Old Fort started out strong, defeating Spencerville 25-22, 25-19 at the St. Marys Memorial Tournament.
But the Stockaders (1-3) struggled after that, falling to the Roughriders 25-12, 25-16, and then to Fort Recovery, 25-14, 25-22.
Morgan Kemenah led the Stockaders attack with 13 kills, while Jordan Magers and Samantha Hartsel had 12 each. Allison Adelsperger had 23 assists, while Krista Ward had 12 assists and 16 digs, Shelby Bilger had 46 digs, while Peyton Miller had 21.
Chieftains drop 3 at Lehman
SIDNEY – Hopewell-Loudon dropped all three of its matches Saturday at the Sidney Lehman Catholic Tournament. The Chieftains’ first two matches mirrored each other as they took the first game, only to drop the next two.
Hopewell-Loudon (1-5) first lost to Adena 19-25, 25-19, 25-23, despite a 20-kill, 11-assist effort from Courtney Burns. Burns also added four blocks and five digs. Shelbi Sauber backed her with eight kills and five digs while handing out 15 assists. Kassie Shaver added five kills and six digs, Brooke Arbogast had three aces and Kassie Welly led the defense with 15 digs.
Burns added another double-double, but it wasn’t enough as the Chieftains fell to Minster 22-25, 25-16, 25-17. Burns finished with 10 kills and 10 assists. Sauber had six kills, six assists and three aces. Welly picked up 10 digs.
The Chieftains closed out the day by falling to Lima Central Catholic 25-17, 25-13. Burns had six kills and six digs. Sauber had 10 assists and a pair of aces. Shaver added six digs, while Michelle Welly and Baleigh Searles each picked up 10 digs.
