Prep Tennis Roundup: Columbian sweeps Ontario

The Columbian doubles team of Ashley Niedermier and Sam Krintzline whitewashed Ontario’s Lizzy Reynolds and Michaela Workman, 6-0, 6-0 to set the tone for a 5-0 sweep of the Warriors.

In the other doubles match, Julianne Peacock and Olivia Smith beat Brie Cortelletti and Amy Williams 6-2, 6-2.

In singles action, Columbian’s Sarah Guzowski topped Destiny Burdine 6-2, 6-3, Kayla Magrum beat Alexis Shambaugh 6-1, 6-1 and Tiffany Walker beat Ashley Coyne 7-5, 6-2.

Clyde improves to 12-0

HURON – Unbeaten Clyde rolled in all but one of its matches Tuesday in a 4-1 Sandusky Bay Conference win over Huron.

The Fliers’ lone loss came at No. 1 singles, where Huron’s Delaney Black beat Andrea Nearhood 7-6 (6-1), 6-2.

Emi Bowers gave Clyde (12-0, 6-0 SBC) a 6-0, 6-1 No. 2 singles win over Colleen Allen, and Desiree Boonen beat Diana Chaban 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3.

Fliers Amanda Cahill and Lexi Weber defeated Lilly Justus and Irene Frageri, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles. Brook Smith and Clara Sewell blanked Tigers Aly Kopp and Elizabeth Mills, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.
