Prep Golf Roundup: Mohawks go low
FOSTORIA – St. Wendelin hosted Calvert on the back-nine at Loudon Meadows Wednesday. St. Wendelin had a team score of 166 while the Senecas were unable to field a full squad.
The Mohawks’ Peter Campbell had the team best of 39, sinking a birdie on No. 10. Gabe Walters tallied a 40, and Joey Dehaven shot a 41 for St. Wendelin. Matt Huffmon carded a 43 for the Senecas, with a birdie on No. 18. Bryan Kennedy shot a 45 and Henry Burns chipped in a 52.
Old Fort falls to Van Buren
KANSAS – Van Buren’s Britton Jackson and Cole Ohlrich led the way at Nature’s Trail shooting a 41 and 42 to best Old Fort 176-189 Wednesday.
The Stockaders’ Adam Alexander was the only one close in reach of Jackson and Ohlrich, shooting a 44. Brad Heilman shot a 47 for Old fort. Maison Steyer and Rob Root would each add 49.
Tanner leads Willard over Columbian
The Flashes’ Jake Tanner shot a 37 at Seneca Hills to help Willlard (5-3) beat Columbian (3-5) 163-182 in a dual meet. Jake Tanner was under par for four of the first five holes.
Columbian’s Jack Burkes, T.J Wickham, and Eline Widman stayed neck and neck to each card a 44. Graydon Bunting shot a 50 to help the Tornadoes.
Fremont St. Joe proves strong at home
FREMONT – In a tri-meet at the Fremont Country Club, match medalist
Aaron Burns shot a 37 to lead Fremont St. Joe (2-4) to victory with a team score of 177.
Norwalk St. Paul (4-8) finished second shooting 189 with Steven Farmer shooting a 47. New Riegel (2-9) posted a third place finish with a 204. Travis Williams and Lance Smith each carded 49 for the Blue Jackets.
Rams out shoot strong Buckeye Central team
UPPER SANDUSKY – Upper Sandusky had a strong showing edging out Buckeye Central 177-182 at Lincoln Hills.
Upper Sandusky’s Cody Clifford and Buckeye Central’s Tanner Zaebst both were medalists shooting 42s. Seth Stansbery carded 44 in the Rams’ victory.
Adam McGinnis shot a 45 for Buckeye Central (9-2).
