Prep Football: Warriors cruise, then hold on

NEW LONDON – Mohawk rolled through the first two games before holding on in the third Saturday to beat New London 25-10, 25-11, 26-24.

Clara Adelsperger tallied 24 assists, four kills, four blocks and four digs for the Warriors (4-1) and Kasey Adelsperger belted 11 kills.

Julie Adelsperger chipped in nine kills, four aces and four digs, Mya Morris slammed six kills, Aubrie Flood smacked seven kills, Ali Konkle had five digs and four kills and Stacy Clouse added six assists. Mackenzie Sowers (9) and Taylor McClain (7) combined for 16 digs.

Blue Jackets stay perfect

MARION – Lauren Ladd approached a triple-double Saturday as unbeaten New Riegel thumped Marion Pleasant 25-15, 25-13, 25-14.

Ladd provided 14 assists, nine digs, eight kills and five blocks for the Blue Jackets (6-0).

Morgan Noftz backed her with 17 assists, six digs and four kills and Kara Scherger hammered 15 kills and three aces.

Taylor Arbogast chipped in 12 digs, eight kills and four aces, Brittany Gillig came up with six digs, Alexis Kieffer drilled four kills and Natalie Reinhart handed out four assists.

Blue Devils go 1-1

CAREY – Carey split a pair of matches Saturday, losing 25-13, 25-16 to Columbus Grove and beating Van Buren 25-9, 25-15.

Sydney Wentling handed out 34 assists for the Blue Devils (4-3), Claire Allison had 20 digs and McKenzie Wentling chipped in 12 digs.

Adrienne Hackworth backed them with 11 digs, seven kills and four aces, Shelby Kin slammed nine kills and four blocks and Shelby Seifert smashed eight kills and four blocks.

Mohawks gain sweep

FOSTORIA – St. Wendelin claimed a pair of matches Saturday, beating Gibsonburg 25-20, 25-18 and Fostoria 25-15, 25-20.

Allie Rutter’s four kills and six digs paced the Mohawks (2-3) against Gibsonburg. Sophia Volpe added 20 digs, and Chloe Reiter and Meghan Reiter each added five assists.

Against Fostoria, Chloe Reiter tossed up 12 assists and served three aces and Olivia Zimmerman drilled three aces.

Becca Starn belted five kills and five blocks and Kamryn Troike lined four kills.
