Lakota’s Dull wins sectional
FOSTORIA – Lakota’s Makayla Dull had the best round and Bellevue earned the team title Tuesday at the Division II girls sectional at Fostoria Country Club.
Dull fired a 74 to lead everyone and claim one of the three district berths.
Bellevue, led by Jackie Brandal’s 94, beat Elmwood 408-414 for the team championship. Sandusky Perkins ended third (416) out of the eight full teams.
The top three teams and top three individuals not on those teams advanced to Monday’s district at Sycamore Springs.
Mohawk’s Katelynn Kinley will be there, firing a 93 to claim the third and final individual berth. Sandusky St. Mary’s Maddie Kreidler shot an 83 to round out the individual qualifiers.
Brooke Wolfe backed Brandal with a 102 for the champion Redmen, Jessica Zeitz carded a 104.
Mohawk used Kinley’s score to finish fifth with a 437. Chelsea Clinger added a 105 for the Warriors.
Old Fort ended seventh with a 501.
Columbian did not field a full team. Katie Bogner fired a 99 and Mercedes Runion had a 124.
McAfee misses out
KALIDA – St. Wendelin’s Mackenzie McAfee lost on a playoff hole Tuesday in her bid to reach the district tournament.
McAfee and Hicksville’s Rachel Schroeder both shot a 100 in regulation at the Division II sectional tournament at Country Acres, but Schroeder earned the third and final individual district berth in a playoff.
The top three teams and top three players not on those teams advanced to the district, set for Monday at Sycamore Springs.
Van Buren clipped Defiance 367-369 for the team title, with North Baltimore taking third (389).
Miller City’s Liz Schimmoeller fired an 88 and Liberty-Benton’s Kierra Robinson shot a 91 to gain the other two individual berths.
