Calvert goes 3-0 at NWOCSA

FOSTORIA – Calvert went 3-0 and St. Wendelin posted a 2-0 mark Saturday at the Northwest Ohio Catholic Schools Association Tournament at St. Wendelin.

Calvert beat Sandusky St. Mary 25-17, 25-13, Fremont St. Joe 25-23, 28-26 and Cardinal Stritch 25-18, 25-20 to improve to 14-4.

Amber Perry led the Senecas with 21 kills and 10 blocks, while Haley Felter smacked 25 kills and seven blocks.

Meridith Lucius chipped in 20 kills and 33 digs, Megan Casale tallied 64 assists and five aces, Kelsey Hendrix came up with 21 digs, Danielle Kontak had 19 digs and Lindsay Bickley drilled 15 kills.

The host Mohawks (8-8) dropped Cardinal Stritch 25-23, 25-22 and St. Joe 25-17, 25-13.

Kamryn Troike’s 16 kills, 10 solo blocks and 12 total blocks keyed St. Wendelin.

Becca Starn drilled 12 kills, seven solo blocks and 10 total blocks, Allie Rutter tallied 23 digs, 16 assists and five kills, Sophia Volpe had 17 digs, Olivia Zimmerman came up with 14 digs and Hailee Burns chipped in 10 digs and five aces.

Warriors hand Hoover 200th win

CALEDONIA – Eric Hoover earned his 200th career win Saturday as Mohawk swept three matches at River Valley.

The Warriors (14-3) opened with a 25-12, 25-12 win over Madison Christian before beating West Jefferson 25-11, 25-8 to give Hoover his 200th. Mohawk then dropped River Valley 25-15, 22-25, 25-14.

Clara Adelsperger’s 79 assists, 16 digs, 10 kills and three blocks led Mohawk, with Julie Adelsperger (2 blocks) tallying 35 kills, 23 digs and eight aces.

Kasey Adelsperger (2 digs) drilled 39 kills and four blocks, Taylor McClain had 28 digs and four assists, Makenzie Sowers came up with 17 digs, four aces and three assists, Aubrie Flood registered five kills and five digs, Mya Morris lined six kills and three blocks, Ali Konkle added six digs, three aces and three assists, and Sheyanne Wilhelm (2 assists) ended with four kills and three blocks.

NR overpowers Wynford

NEW RIEGEL – Wynford squeaked past New Riegel 28-26 in the second game to tie the match, but the state-ranked Blue Jackets powered off from there Saturday for a four-set victory.

The Blue Jackets, who entered fifth in the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Division IV poll, won the first game 25-20 and took the third and fourth games 25-12, 25-13.

Morgan Noftz handed out 20 assists for New Riegel (16-0), Lauren Ladd had 13 kills and nine assists and Taylor Arbogast tallied 17 digs and 15 kills.

Kara Scherger backed them with 13 digs and seven aces, Brittany Gillig came up with seven digs and Alexis Kieffer (2 kills) slammed three blocks.

Wentling tops milestone, Carey tops C-R

RAWSON – Sydney Wentling turned in a double-double and reached a milestone, and Carey nearly had a perfect day of serving Saturday in a 25-23, 25-18, 25-16 win over Cory-Rawson.

Wentling went 73 for 73 setting with 28 assists and 10 digs for the Blue Devils, becoming just the second player in Carey history to record 1,000 career assists. Healy Batton, who played from 2005-08, holds the record with 1,145 assists.

Shelby Seifert served four aces and Logan Johnson added two as Carey (10-5) went 72 for 73 serving.

Claire Allison tallied 22 digs, Johnson had 12 digs, Shelby Kin (2 solo blocks) and Seifert drilled eight kills each and Adrienne Hackworth hammered six kills.

Rams get help all over at Appelfeller Classic

MARION – Emma Smith handed out 67 assists and Taylor Graboski and Jessi Holly combined for 53 kills Saturday as Upper Sandusky went 2-1 at the Sherril Appelfeller Classic at Elgin.

The Rams beat Hopewell-Loudon 25-11, 25-13 and Grandview Heights 25-10, 25-11 before falling 25-18, 13-25, 25-23 to Elgin.

Smith also tallied 13 digs and three aces for the Rams (14-2), who entered the day tied for fourth in the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Division III poll.

Graboski tallied 30 kills and 12 digs and Holly had 23 kills, 14 digs, five aces and three blocks.

Molly Owens smacked 18 kills and five blocks, Kalene Johnson added 13 kills, four digs and three aces, and Jenna Holly provided 32 digs and five aces. Taven Wentling chipped in nine assists and six digs against Grandview Heights.

Stockaders go 0-3

CONVOY – Old Fort went 0-3 Saturday at Convoy Crestview Lady Knight Invitational, falling 25-4, 25-6 to Marion Local, 25-18, 25-22 to Celina and 25-15, 23-25, 25-16 to Fort Recovery.

Jordan Magers turned in 15 digs, 14 kills and three aces for the Stockaders, Allison Adelsperger tossed up 36 assists and Shelby Bilger had 24 digs and four aces.

Peyton Miller chipped in 16 digs, Samantha Hartsel drilled nine kills, Sara Bell had 11 assists, six kills and three blocks and Mackenzie Ward lined five kills.
