Prep Volleyball Roundup: Senecas turn away Rangers

NORTHWOOD – Calvert improved to 3-1 Thursday by beating Northwood, 25-13, 25-12, 25-13.

Meridith Lucius led the assault against the Rangers with 18 kills, Lindsay Bickley belted six kills and Amber Perry tallied five kills and three blocks.

The Senecas also got 19 assists from Megan Casale.

Rams open 4-0

CRESTLINE – Upper Sandusky stormed past Crestline, 25-8, 25-11, 25-12 Thursday to improve to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the North Central Conference.

Taylor Graboski’s 18 kills sparked the Rams and Molly Owens drilled another 10.

Emma Smith handed out 33 assists and drilled three aces, Madison Bianich served four aces and came up with 11 digs and Kalene Johnson had six kills, six digs and three aces. Jenna Holy chipped in 11 digs, Ceidyer Niederkohr tallied seven digs and Jessi Holly slammed six kills.

TC falls below .500

FINDLAY – Columbian’s scheduled home game Thursday with Liberty-Benton was moved Findlay, where the host Eagles did their best to defend their nest. Columbian fell in three to the Eagles 25-8, 25-17, 25-17.

Tessa Fuhrer led Columbian (2-3) with nine assists, seven digs and two aces. Maddie Williams led the defense with 10 digs while also lining five kills. Haley Sendelbach slammed nine kills and also came up with five blocks.

New Riegel vanquishes Black Knights

VAN BUREN – New Riegel opened up strong against Van Buren with a 25-10 opening game win. As impressive as that was, the second game was even more so as the Blue Jackets took it by a 25-3 score. Add in a 25-10 third game and it equaled a three-game conquest of the Black Knights and a 4-0 record for New Riegel on the young season.

Kara Scherger’s 12 kills led New Riegel. Lauren Ladd and Taylor Arbogast each added eight kills. Ladd also had three aces and Arbogast had nine digs.

Morgan Noftz served eight aces while handing out 17 assists. Brittany Gillig paced the defense with 11 digs and Natalie Reinhart added in a pair of aces.

Chieftains fall at home

BASCOM – Arlington upended Hopewell-Loudon 25-15, 25-22, 25-20 Thursday.

Courtney Burns paced H-L (1-2) with 15 kills and 10 assists and Shelby Sauber tallied 10 assists, 10 digs, eight kills and three aces.

Kassie Welly chipped in 15 digs and two aces, Kassie Shaver had six kills and six digs and Lexi Feindel added five digs and two aces.
