Prep Tennis Roundup: Columbian still perfect in NOL

SANDUSKY – A singles sweep fueled Columbian’s 4-1 victory over Sandusky, keeping the Tornadoes unbeaten in Northern Ohio League play.

At No. 1 singles, Sarah Guzowski topped Heidi Shipley 6-4, 6-0. Kayla Magrum topped Shauna McConville 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 and Tiffany Walker dropped Morgan Spencer 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3.

Columbian (3-2, 2-0) added a doubles win from the team of Kristina Talbot-Koehl and Sam Krintzline 6-3, 6-0 over Lupita Yado and Samantha Miller 6-3, 6-0.

Sandusky’s lone win came at No. 1 doubles where Hannah Lang and Melanie Murray beat Julianne Peacock and Ashley Niedermier 6-4, 6-0.

Calvert moves to 4-1

UPPER SANDUSKY – Upper Sandusky scored a win at No. 1 singles, but the rest of the match was all Calvert. The Senecas improved to 4-1 with a 4-1 victory Thursday.

Calvert swept the doubles matches. At No. 1, Regina Hoepf and Samantha Gase beat Rene Vent and Kayla Gault 6-1, 6-2. That was followed up by Cassie Recker and Kerrigan Kwiat beating Melissa Latham and Hope Voorhees 6-1, 6-1.

In singles action, Kilee Saylor beat Madison Daniel 6-2, 7-5 at No. 1 for Upper Sandusky’s lone win. Laura Haley beat Nadia English 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 for Calvert and CeCi Burtis topped Taylor Dilley 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3.
