Prep Roundup: Hornets sting Warriors

SYCAMORE -Cambria Kohlenberg’s goal in the 48th minute gave Mohawk a 1-0 lead.

Cory-Rawson responded with four straight goals – two by Becka Schutz – and beat the Warriors, 4-1.

Lexie Smith assisted on Kohlenberg’s goal, with goalkeeper Ally Weinandy collecting eight saves for the Warriors, who fell to 0-2-1.

Caroline Schutz and Shiann Ludwig added goals for the Hornets, who out-shot Mohawk 12-3.

Calvert gets another victory

FOSTORIA – Calvert didn’t lose a point in doubles play, and shut out host Fostoria Monday, 5-0.

The Senecas improved to 5-1.

Margaret Bowers and Samantha Gase teamed to top Fostoria’s Jessica Kauffman and Destinie Farris, 6-0, 6-0. The Senecas’ Cassie Recker and Kerrigan Kwiat beat the Redmen’s Sabra Tate and Ellen Guan by the same score.

In singles play, Calvert’s Madison Daniel beat Erica Moore, 6-1, 6-1. The Senecas’ Laura Haley shut out Autumn Affholder, 6-0, 6-0. Calvert’s Regina Hoepf added a 6-1 win over Jillian Smith.

TC sweeps Rams

Columbian received little resistance from Upper Sandusky Monday, sweeping the Rams 5-0 to go to 4-2 on the season.

Sarah Guzowski defeated the Rams’ Kilee Saylor 6-1, 6-0, then the Tornadoes’ Kayla Magrum upended Nadia English, 6-0, 7-6 (7-3). To close out singles, TC’s Tiffany Walker beat Taylor Dilley, 6-4, 6-4.

In doubles play, TC’s Sam Krintzline and Ashley Niedermier beat Rene Vent and Kayla Gault 6-1, 6-3.

The Tornadoes’ Julianne Peacock and Kristina Talbot-Koehl registered a win over Melissa Latham and Shelby Passet, 6-0, 6-0.
