Prep Golf Roundup: TC drops season opener to Bellevue

Bellevue showed why it’s projected to be at the top of the Northern Ohio League standings during a dual meet Thursday with Columbian at Seneca Hills. The Redmen’s sixth man, Tom Hosang, shot a 40 and it wasn’t even included in the team scores.

Dylan Dewitt and Ryan Wilburn posted 37s with Isaac Hartley adding a 38 and Thomas Pressler carding a 39 in a 151-198 victory over the Tornadoes in the season-opener for both schools.

Jack Burkes and T.J. Wickham each shot 45 to lead Columbian. Wesley Henkel shot a 52 and Eline Widman carded a 56.

Carey edges out North Baltimore

CAREY – Carey needed a balanced team effort to squeak past North Baltimore Thursday at Bob’s Countryside. The Blue Devils (2-0) got a 44 from Grant Wentling, twin 46s from Russell Phillips and Alex Kimmet and a 47 from Devon Huffman to top the Tigers 183-186.

Brock Boyer and Grant Boyer each matched Wentling’s 44 to share medalist honors.

Bucks open season with a win

NEW WASHINGTON – Buckeye Central got two sub-40 rounds to get past Seneca East in its season opener, 160-180.

Tanner Zaebst had the low round of the day with a 37, while Adam McGinnis was right behind him with a 39. Also for Buckeye Central, Matt Sheibley shot a 41 while Derek Shell carded a 43.

Austin Holmer shot a 43 to lead Seneca East.
