Three Tigers statebound

LANCASTER – Ben Hahler, Zach Gregg and Cory Depinet each finished in the top four in their event to advance to the state track meet next Friday in Columbus.

Gregg had the best overall finish, ending second in the pole vault (14-0) while teammate Depinet took fourth (13-0).

Ben Hahler threw 152-1 in the discus for third. Hahler will also throw the shot on Friday.

TC’s lone relay fails to advance

AMHERST – Columbian couldn’t finish in the top eight in the 4×400 Wednesday, failing to advance to the regional finals in the event.

The team of Kordell Hunt, Josh Flint, Seth Young and Caleb Peacock ended 16th (3:44.97) in the prelims.

Brandon Gibson (1,600) and Tyler Lewis (3,200) will compete Friday.

Anway, Berecz named first team All-NOL

Columbian’s Vince Anway and Sarah Berecz were named first team All-Northern Ohio League in baseball and softball respectively Wednesday.

Columbian baseball also had three second-team selections in Chandler Hoover, Nate Hoyda and Mike Rohrbach. Bryce Lonsway made honorable mention.

The softball team was represented on the second team by Paige Correll. Valesha Province and Alyssa Price were named honorable mention.

Bellevue had three first-team selections on the baseball side in Alex Manner, Nick Raifsnider and Trent Stamm. Norwalk’s Isaac Perry, Mike Finch and Collin Souter, Sandusky’s Mike Delk and Drew Yontz, Shelby’s Justin Lewis and Andrew Baird, and Willard’s Sam Petrie round out the All-NOL baseball first team.

On the softball side, Bellevue had nine players make either first or second team. Hannah Lilly, Laura Doerner, Kelsey Yantz, Jessica Zeitz and Meredith George were named first team. Kara Shelley, Lindsey Yantz, Elizabeth Smith and Morgan Andrews were named second team.

Rounding out the first team was Norwalk’s Kailee Flowers, Sandusky’s Kelsey Peters and Jenna Meggitt, and Shelby’s Mikala Miller, Erika O’Millian and Emma Hostetler.
