Prep Softball Roundup: Gangwer keeps Raiders going

OLD FORT – Morgan Gangwer held Calvert to just three hits and had the game’s only extra-base hit to lift Lakota past Calvert, 2-1 at the Division IV sectional final at Old Fort.

Gangwer laced a double as one of her two hits on the night, which drove in a runner, while Alexandria Hovis had two hits as well. Gangwer had five strikeouts in the circle.

The Raiders move on to the district semifinals next week at Fostoria.

Carey falls in 11

MOUNT BLANCHARD – In a devilish battle, it was the Arlington Red Devils beating the Blue Devils of Carey 8-7 in 11 innings in a Division IV sectional semifinal at Riverdale.

Arlington moves on to face New Riegel in a sectional final Thursday.

Willard upsets TC late

Willard struggled to get on the board, taking six innings to make some noise. But the Flashes poured in several runs in the bottom of the seventh to sneak past Columbian, 7-4.

Valesha Province led the Tornadoes with an inside-the-park home run while Alyssa Price added a two-run homer.

Bri Coffman and Kendalyn Sarka each had a hit.

Rossford downs Redmen

FOSTORIA – Rossford scattered runs throughout the entire game, using depth to fuel a 13-1 victory over Fostoria.

Alexus Smith singled twice for Fostoria while Erica Moore took the loss.

Polar Bears swinging hot bats

BASCOM – Margaretta started out slow but after six extra-base hits, it found itself atop Hopewell-Loudon in a 14-9 fashion.

Marissa Windau led the Polar Bears with a home run and a double while Lexi Harvey hammered a home run of her own.

Four others doubled while Cortney Hansen threw 12 strikeouts for the win.

Lauren Trumpler pummeled a home run and a double to lead the Chieftains.

Aubrey Affholder suffered the loss.
