Pleasant takes out Calvert

Marion Pleasant downed Calvert 4-1 Monday in tennis action.

Calvert’s lone win came when the No. 1 doubles team of Daniel Kwiat and Ian Warnement thumped Cameron Osborn and Heath Marrin 6-0, 6-1.

Senecas Mark Fowler and Philip Boes fell 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles to Garret Coppler and Allen Zhang.

Pleasant’s Christian Vaflor defeated Jack Burtis 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, and David Schuring downed Danny George 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2. Calvert forfeited the No. 3 singles match.

Sandusky squeezes past Tornadoes

SANDUSKY – Columbian swept both doubles events but couldn’t pull together a win in the singles, falling 3-2 to Sandusky.

In first singles, Sandusky’s Jack Stauffer downed Nick Gaietto 6-1, 6-2 while Jacob Riedy did the same to Braden Kuhn in second singles, finishing 6-3, 6-0.

David Linden closed out singles matches with a win over TC’s Hunter Stark, 6-1, 6-2.

Mason McCool and John Obringer fought back and forth in first doubles, coming out on top 7-6 (7-3) 6-2 while Brandon Berry and Eline Widman cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 victory for the Tornadoes (7-7, 3-4 Northern Ohio League).
