Fostoria’s Valenti 5th, leads area placers

FOSTORIA – Columbian, Upper Sandusky and host Fostoria competed in the OHSAA Division II District Track and Field Championships, where Columbian and Fostoria were district one and Upper Sandusky was district two.

Fostoria has four points after day one while Columbian sits one behind with three.

Ottawa-Glandorf is off to a strong start, leading with 39 points.

Fostoria’s Olivia Valenti narrowly missed out advancing to regionals in the long jump by finishing fifth (14-4) while Columbian’s Amanda Schwartz finished seventh in the same event (14-1 1/2).

Columbian’s 4×800 team of Megan Moore, Marissa Ward, Alexis Desjardins and Alex Foncannon ended eighth (10:54.84).

Upper Sandusky’s Mallory Weininger finished seventh in the high jump (4-8) to pace Upper Sandusky on day one (2 points).
