Columbian swept the singles matches and split the three-set contests Monday to gain a 3-2 Northern Ohio League win over Shelby.

Austin Crabtree capped the victory by dropping Shelby No. 3 singles player Grant Workman 6-4, 2-6, 6-2.

Nick Gaietto beat Evan Shuler 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 singles for the Tornadoes (5-5, 2-3 NOL), and Braden Kuhn added a 6-2, 6-4 No. 2 victory against Jon Dawson.

Whippets Enrique Collada and Grant Binion upended Mason McCool and John Obringer 6-2, 6-7 (6-8), 6-2 at No. 1 doubles.

Evan Head and Sam Coleman added a 6-2, 6-1 No. 2 doubles win for Shelby over Brandon Berry and Hunter Stark.

Senecas knock back St. Joe

Calvert claimed three of the contested matches Monday to capture a 3-1 tennis win over Fremont St. Joe.

The teams split the singles matches, with Jack Burtis giving Calvert a 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 No. 1 win over Hunter Harrison while St. Joe’s Aaron Burns dropped Phillip Boes, 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2.

There was no No. 3 singles match.

The Senecas swept the doubles matches.

Daniel Kwiat and Ian Warnement dominated Streaks Nick McNair and Jacob Hahn 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles.

Senecas Mark Fowler and Danny George downed Ben Selvey and Jacob McQuistion 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.
