Prep Roundup: H-L excels in quad

FREMONT – Hopewell-Loudon picked up several wins Thursday in a four-team meet with Fremont St. Joseph, Port Clinton and Cardinal Stritch. Team scores were not provided.

Individual boys wins came from Cody Malone in the 100 (10.9), Chet Swartzmiller in the 1,600 (5:04.9), Patric Gase in the 110 hurdles (16.6) and Marcus Ardner in the 800 (2:09.6).

The Chieftains also took the 4×800 (9:23) and 4×400 (3:46.7).

In the girls meet, Leah Reinhart claimed the 3,200 (13:30) for H-L.

Columbian can’t get by Blue Streaks

Columbian’s doubles teams dominated, but all three singles matches couldn’t pull out victories as Columbian fell 3-2 to Sandusky.

In first singles, Columbian’s Nick Gaietto fell 6-0, 6-1 to Jack Stauffer. Second singles had the same outcome as Braden Kuhn took a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 loss to Sandusky’s Jacob Riedy. Austin Crabtree suffered a 6-2, 6-4 loss in third singles to David Linden.

In first doubles, Mason McCool and John Obringer came out on top over Martin Stevenson and Jeremy White, 6-0, 6-1.

Brandon Berry and Hunter Stark picked up a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Mason Wallrabinstein and Skyler Janey in second doubles.
