Prep Baseball Roundup: Clyde walks off with a win against Old?Fort
CLYDE – Old Fort had Clyde doubled up, leading 8-4 after five innings. However, the Fliers put their rally caps on, tied the game with four in the sixth, then plated in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to turn back the Stockaders 9-8.
Derek Gray picked up the win in relief and also paced the Flier offense with three hits, including a double, and scored three runs.
Cole Davidson had a home run and two RBIs for Old Fort (1-4). Brad Heilman and Brandon Tittle also drove in two runs with Garet Kimmet driving in one. Marc Salas scored a pair of runs.
Ross roars back from early hole
FREMONT – Fostoria had the lead, then Fremont Ross made sure it never trailed.
The Little Giants (6-2) pounded out four runs in the bottom of the first to erase a 1-0 deficit, then plated five in the second Monday en route to a 12-2 win over FHS (0-8).
Andy Mapus (1-0) got the win for Ross, and Rob Crotty (0-1) took the loss.
Casey Kitchen doubled for FHS, and Crotty, Chris Hampton and Lance Smith each singled. Fostoria gave up eight walks.
Early lead not enough
BUCYRUS – Buckeye Central jumped on top early, but Wynford clawed back into the game before scoring the game-winner with one out in the seventh Monday for a 5-4 victory.
The Bucks (2-6) plated four runs in the top of the first.
The Royals (6-1) finally got on the board with single runs in the third, fifth and sixth innings before scoring twice in the seventh.
Losing pitcher Austin Lutz (2-1) went 3 for 4 with a two-run homer for BC. Justin Herrnstein tripled and singled and Bryce Christy singled twice.
Perkins breaks free of TC
SANDUSKY – Perkins broke open a close game with six runs in the fourth inning Monday in a 9-2 win over Columbian.
Jerrod Windsor took the loss for the Tornadoes, who scored single runs in the second and seventh innings.
The Pirates tied the game in third inning and took a 2-1 edge in the fifth before erupting in the sixth.
Bryce Lonsway had a double and RBI for TC.
