Prep Baseball: Quick start plenty for NR

RAWSON – New Riegel jumped on top 8-0 in the top of the first and coasted from there in Thursday’s 9-4 win over Cory-Rawson.

Brandyn Reinhart went 3 for 3 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI for the Blue Jackets.

Andrew Hohman added a triple, Aaron Acree doubled, Jake Dryfuse chased in two runs with two singles, Aaron Reinhart had a single and two RBIs and Blaine Hughes singled twice.

Austin Mathias claimed the win against the Hornets.

SE overcomes early deficit

ATTICA – Gus Baldosser had two hits and drove in three runs, and Seneca East overcame an early 2-0 deficit to clobber Fremont St. Joe, 13-3.

Ethan Caudill got the win on the mound, improving to 3-0. He also scored twice. Mason McWilliams also had a big day, doubling, scoring twice and driving in two runs.

Dalton Wise had three hits and drove in a run.

Zack Yeckley drove in two runs for St. Joe.

Seneca East improved to 11-1, 3-0 in the Midland Athletic League.

Chieftains nipped in eighth

MCCOMB – McComb’s run off Hopewell-Loudon reliever Alex Brock in the bottom of the eighth inning sent the Panthers home with a 2-1 victory.

The Chieftains (4-8) were limited to just four hits, scoring their lone run in the sixth inning, which at the time tied the game.

For the run Garrett Sendelbach, who doubled, drove in Bryan Scherger.

Tyler Imes had two hits for H-L.

TC falls to Sandusky

Columbian scored twice in the bottom of the fourth inning to tie its Northern Ohio League game with Sandusky at 2 each.

But instead of the burst giving the Tornadoes momentum, it was the Streaks who took over the contest, scoring twice in the fifth and three times in the seventh for a 7-2 win.

Nate Hoyda and Vince Anway each drove in runs for the Tornadoes, who dropped to 4-6, 0-2. The Streaks improved to 8-2, 2-0.

Bryce Lonsway took the loss for TC. He went six innings and gave up five runs, but only three were earned. He struck out four and walked three.
