Lakota sweeps both titles at home meet
KANSAS – Darris McGown claimed two victories while taking part in two relay victories to help lead Lakota’s boys to an 85-54 win over Genoa. Arcadia ended with 24.
McGown ran 12.2 in the 100 and 25.8 in the 200 while Luke Baker won the 1,600 (5:15) and Zach Baker captured the 3,200 (12:23) for the Raiders. Mac Flanagan heaved 40-0 to win the shot and Caleb Steele leaped 16-4 1/2 for win in the long jump.
On the girls side, Lakota held off Arcadia 59-54.
Lakota’s 4 x 100 ended first (56.1), while Cariss Reese captured the 300 hurdles (51.1) and Taylor Smith won the 200 (30.9). Katie Park won both the shot (28-1 1/2) and discus (91-1).
Port Clinton shuts out Tornadoes
No Columbian player could pick up a victory in a 5-0 loss to Port Clinton.
Second doubles team Brandon Berry and Hunter Stark took a 6-1 lead before falling 7-5, 7-6 in the final two sets.
In first singles, TC’s Nick Gaietto fell 6-1, 6-2 to Matteus Rodriguez. Noah Cross downed Columbian’s Braden Kuhn 6-2, 6-2 in second singles.
Max Mercurio defeated Austin Crabtree 6-4, 6-1 in third singles.
Mason McCool and John Obringer grabbed a 7-6 advantage in the first doubles match, but ended up falling 6-7, 6-3, 6-0.
