MAL girls bury BVC
NORTH BALTIMORE – Hopewell-Loudon’s Danielle Rohrbach and Carey’s Hannah Tong gave dominant efforts, and the Midland Athletic League won big over the Blanchard Valley Conference, 117-58 Sunday in the BVC-MAL All-Star game in North Baltimore.
Rohrbach and Tong combined for 46 points (Rohrbach led the MAL with 24), in a game where the winners took an early lead and never looked back.
The MAL finished with five players in double digits, with St. Wendelin’s Colleen Fondessy scoring 11, H-L’s Cassandra Hohman adding 10 and SW’s Heather Saalman adding 10.
New Riegel’s Abby Cassidy and Calvert’s Megan Funkhouser each added nine points, while Mohawk’s Lynsey Trusty chipped in two.
The BVC was led by Arlington’s Jordyn Webb, who had 26.
Reinhart leads MAL boys
NORTH BALTIMORE – New Riegel’s Brandyn Reinhart led the Midland Athletic League with 20 points, while teammate Korey Williams had 15 in the MAL’s 113-111 win over the Blanchard Valley Conference.
Four other players scored in double digits for the MAL, including Hopewell-Loudon’s Alec Gregg (17), Carey’s Justin Meek (11) and Mohawk’s Grant Ekleberry (14).
Mohawk’s Drew Loose had eight points, while St. Wendelin’s Zack Miller and the Blue Jackets’ Nick Wank had six points each.
