Prep Basketball Roundup: Whippets wrap up Graboski, Rams

UPPER SANDUSKY – Shelby nullified Taylor Graboski and got her to foul out less than halfway through the fourth quarter Tuesday in a 69-47 romp over Upper Sandusky.

Devon Murray scored 14 of her 19 points in the second quarter to help stake Shelby to a 36-27 halftime advantage.

Emma Hostetler tossed in a game-high 20 points, Taylor Goth netted 13 and Taylor Fulton added eight as the Whippets powered off.

Graboski scored all eight of her points in the first half and grabbed five rebounds, but fouled out with 5:37 to play.

Allison Snyder’s 16 points and three assists keyed the Rams and Jorden Born had 12 points and 14 boards. Sydney Piecha dished four assists.

Hohman fuels H-L win

BASCOM – Cassandra Hohman popped in 26 points, and Hopewell-Loudon gained breathing room in the second quarter Tuesday en route to a 59-50 win over Margaretta.

Hohman also grabbed eight rebounds for the Chieftains (9-7), who outscored the Polar Bears 15-9 in the second period for a 29-22 lead.

Aleta Daniel, Hope Brickner and Danielle Rohrbach each added eight points. Rohrbach hauled in seven boards, Daniel dished five assists and Racquel Hossler snared three steals.

Kelsey Kromer’s 30 points sparked Margaretta. Kendra Gast added 10 points.

Mohawks steadily pull away

VAN BUREN – St. Wendelin scored just a bit more each quarter than Van Buren in Tuesday’s 53-45 win.

The differentials for the Mohawks (10-7) were bookended by three points in first and second quarters, and one point in the third and four quarters.

Colleen Fondessy scored 18 points and Makenzie McAfee netted 10 for St. Wendelin, with Kamyrn Troike and Heather Saalman tossing in eight each.

Troike also grabbed six rebounds, Allie Rutter had three blocks and three steals and Fondessy registered four steals and three assists.

Kirian carries Blue Jackets

NEW RIEGEL – Taylor Kirian fueled a New Riegel surge in the third quarter Tuesday as the Blue Jackets thumped Bucyrus 61-39.

New Riegel (13-2) entered halftime clinging to a 23-21 lead, but Kirian scored 11 of her game-high 19 points in the third period as the Blue Jackets raced out to a 49-28 advantage.

Kara Scherger added 15 points and five steals, Lauren Ladd turned in 10 points, seven rebounds and five steals, and Kirian grabbed five boards.

Taylor Arbogast tossed in eight points and Abby Cassidy handed out four assists.

The Redmen (8-7) got 18 points from Macey Shearer and 10 from Hannah Wyeth. Kristin Orweiler had seven rebounds.

Lakers swamp Stockaders

LAKESIDE – Danbury never let Old Fort score more than nine points in a quarter Tuesday en route to a 59-29 triumph.

Alyssa Almendinger’s 16 points led the charge for the Lakers, Stephanie Kukay tossed in 11 and Megan Stephens netted nine.

Sara Bell’s 11 points and seven rebounds topped the Stockaders. Shelby Bilger scored eight points and had four steals.

Rossford too much for FHS

FOSTORIA – Rossford owned the even quarters and did well enough in the odds Tuesday on the way to a 62-23 Northern Buckeye Conference win over Fostoria.

The Bulldogs used a 17-3 run in the second quarter to forge a 29-10 halftime lead, then outscored FHS 18-3 in the fourth.

Erica Moore’s 15 points sparked the Redmen in the loss.

Gophers top Mohawk

RIDGEWAY – Ridgemont powered off to a 42-26 halftime lead in what became an 80-57 win Tuesday over Mohawk.

Drew Loose’s 22 points paced the Warriors in the loss.

Grant Ekleberry added 12 points and Tyler Boyd netted 10 against the Flames.

Redmen run away in fourth

BELLEVUE – Bellevue broke free from Upper Sandusky in the fourth quarter Tuesday to claim a 55-43 win.

The Redmen ended the third quarter with a 38-36 lead before outscoring the Rams 17-7 from there.

Jalen Santoro tossed in 18 points for Bellevue, Charles Dendinger netted 15 and Derek Smith scored 10.

Trent Howard’s 13 points keyed the Rams and Cody Clifford added 10.
