Girls Basketball Roundup: Stockaders find first win in OT

OLD FORT – The wait is over, though it took overtime to get there.

Old Fort survived a cold day of shooting and got help from Maumee Valley Country Day’s woes at the line Saturday to claim a 29-27 overtime win in a matchup of winless teams.

The Stockaders (1-16) led 15-11 at halftime, but Maumee Valley Country Day forged a 19-all tie at the end of the third quarter and the teams finished the fourth knotted at 23.

Shelby Bilger hit a big 3-pointer to key Old Fort’s 6-4 edge in the extra period.

Sammy Miller’s eight points led Old Fort, which ended 11 for 52 from the field and 6 for 15 at the line. Bilger ended with six points and Sara Bell hauled in 12 rebounds.

The Hawks (0-16) got eight points each from Kayla Turner and Kennedie Jackson. Maumee Valley Country made just one of its 10 foul shots.

Shooting woes hinder Warriors

ARCADIA – Arcadia shot better and had three players combine to outscore Mohawk in a 56-47 win Saturday.

Miranda Palmer and Molly Glick each netted 18 points and Regina Fox scored 12 for the Redskins (14-3), who ended 20 for 45 from the field.

Mohawk (12-4) finished 16 for 44 overall, but went just 6 for 26 inside the 3-point arc.

Glick also tallied eight rebounds and three steals for Arcadia.

Julie Adelsperger nearly had a double-double for the Warriors, turning in 12 points, nine rebounds and three assists.

Sarah Runion scored all 18 of her points behind the 3-point line. Lynsey Trusty had 12 points and five assists and Sarah Parker hauled in eight boards.
