GOLF: Ryan Chaviler and Marty Ward lead the second five weeks with 55 points in the Baumann Old Fort EX-Hi League. Prize holes went to Dave Zigler (closest second shot No. 1), Skip Halcomb (longest putt No. 5) and Greg Molyet (closest third shot No. 6).
n Rufus Tyree, Dale Wisebaker, Jim Heyman and Banks shot 7 under to win Thursday’s Retiree League at Seneca Hills. Prize winners were Larry Wilson (long putt No. 1) and Tyree (closest to pin No. 2).
n Lou Ann Newlove made a hole-in-one on the 155-yard par 3 No. 6 at Seneca Hills. Dutch Edeburn witnessed it.
n The team of Tim Gassner and Ken Ritzler lead the K of C League. Prizes went to Aaron Gooding (closest to pin No. 2), Andy Hess (long putt No. 3), John Arend (long drive No. 6) and Greg Gase (closest to pin No. 8). The teams of Aaron and Ken Gooding, Hess and Scott Ferguson and Joe and Steve Zirger all won a skins game.
OHSAA MEETING: All fall sports athletes and parents for Old Fort, there will be a mandatory OHSAA meeting July 31 at 7 p.m. in the high school commons. They will be implementing electronic forms that will replace all paperwork that has needed to be filled out at meetings in previous years. Plan to attend this meeting.
YOUTH FOOTBALL: There is a Youth League Football draft and Youth Cheerleading registration today at 10 a.m. at Hedges-Boyer Park in the shelter by the D-league baseball field at the base of the circle. Any child in Seneca County entering grades 3-6 is eligible to participate. There will be a second draft July 28 for any player unable to attend today’s. They will held rain or shine. FALL BASEBALL: The Tiffin Cal Ripken D League is taking sign-ups for the 12th year of fall baseball. This league is for 10 year olds, who turn 11 before May 1 2019 and for 11 and 12 year olds, but did not turn 13 before May 1 of this year. This is open to any individuals whether they are boys or girls who live in town or county no matter where they live, they can play. The fee is $60 for one player, but there is a discount for multiple players in the same household. Balks, dropped third strikes and leadoffs are in play for this league. HORSESHOE TOURNAMENT: The horseshoe tournament at the Seneca County Fair begins Tuesday with the Senior Doubles at 10:30 a.m. July 28 is Singles Class A and B at 10 a.m. and Class C at 1 p.m. July 29 is Double Class A and B at 10 a.m. For more information, call Joe Steinmetz at (419) 618-1951.
SOCCER: The Sycamore Soccer League has extended their registration deadline to July 25. Have all forms and money in by that time. Area players age 5 by Aug. 1 through eighth grade are welcome to join. Community league games are played Saturday mornings at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Sycamore during September and October with practices beginning in August.
