YOUTH CAMP: Heidelberg’s Office of Athletics is to host a one-day all-sports camp June 4 designed to introduce children entering grades 1-6 in the fall to a variety of sports. GOLF: Jim Reuss, John Powell, Don Hammer and Craig Neifer shot 8 under to win Friday’s Senior League at Clinton Heights. With a score of 7 under, the team of Jack Snay, Loyd Straub, Dave Fraley and Jim Hoffbaure took second. Prizes were awarded to Reuss (closest in one on No. 14), Fraley (closest in two on No. 15), Snay (closest in three on No. 17) and Jim Aiken (long putt No. 12).
n The duo of Rob Ritzler and Tim Ritzler lead the K of C Thursday Nigh League at Clinton Heights with 30 1/2 points. Ken Gooding and Aaron Gooding are close behind with 30 points. Prizes were won by Ken Gooding (closest in two on No. 2), Ken Ritzler (closest to pin on No. 5), Bob Gooding (long drive on No. 6) and Brad Hess (long putt on No. 7). Ken and Aaron Gooding won a skin, while Tim Gassner and Ken Ritzler also won a skin.
RECREATIONAL SOCCER: The Sycamore Soccer League is accepting registrations through July 15. Area players age 5 by August 1 through eighth grade are welcome to join. Community league games are played Saturday mornings at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Sycamore during September and October with practices beginning in August. n Seneca East is to host a summer instructional camp in the Tiger Gymnasium June 11-14. The camp is for any girls entering grades 4-8 for the 2018-19 school year. Fourth to sixth grade is to meet from 10:15 a.m.-12 p.m. while seventh and eighth grade is to meet from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Forms are available on the SE website. The cost is $35 per camper and the deadline for registration is June 6.
n Hopewell-Loudon will host its fourth annual boys basketball camp June 5-7 in both high school gyms. Grades 1-7 run 8:30-11:30 a.m. while grades 8-12 run noon-2:30 p.m. Cost is $30 for grades 1-7. Grades 8-12 has no charge (check summer schedules). Registration is to be turned in as soon as possible. Forms are available at the school or on the website, Facebook and Twitter. Pay by checks or money orders payable to Hopewell-Loudon Schools with the notation of “boys basketball camp.”
CY YOUNG FEST: Reservations are being taken for the Cy Young Days Festival luncheon featuring 1985 award winner Dwight “Doc” Gooden. The New York Mets star pitcher will speak at the luncheon, sign autographs, answer questions and be available for pictures. The event occurs at the Laborers Local 134 Hall in Newcomerstown on June 23. The hall is also sponsoring the luncheon. Doors are to open at 11:30 a.m. while lunch begins at 12:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children under 11.
