Garold G. Owen, 80, of Tiffin, passed away Wednesday morning, Aug. 27, 2014, at Mercy Tiffin Hospital.
He was born Dec. 30, 1933, in Seneca County, to Vyrl H. and Ethel (Kegerreis) Owen. He married Nancy J. Magers April 20, 1968, and she preceded him in death March 21, 2012.
Survivors include his three daughters, Carol (Brian) Kern of Tiffin, Judy Owen of Syracuse, New York, and Debi (Randy) Nichols of New Riegel; and three grandchildren, Mason, Jacob and Natalie Nichols.
He also was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Glenice Lloyd and Lois Escheneuer.
Garold graduated in 1951 from Jackson Liberty High School, attended Tiffin University and served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1962. He retired as a foreman in 1996, after 39 years from Basic Refractories, Bettsville, and was a member of Green Springs American Legion and Tiffin Moose Lodge No. 846. He enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre, visiting Amish country, going on bus trips around the country and visiting casinos. Garold built his house and also enjoyed intarsia woodworking.
His funeral will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH 44883, (419) 447-2424, with Pastor Tress Hodkinson officiating. Burial will follow at Seneca Memory Gardens with military honors being conducted by the United Veterans Council.
Friends may visit with the family 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service Saturday.
