Rams dip Pleasant
UPPER SANDUSKY - Not much separated Upper Sandusky from Marion Pleasant on the tennis court Monday afternoon. The deciding contest likely was the first doubles match between the Rams' Rene Vent and Hope Voorhees, and Pleasant's Abby Lemon and Paige Sims. It was a match that Upper Sandusky coach Angie Miller could only sum up in two words: "Holy guacamole!"
The teams went three sets. After the Upper Sandusky duo handily took the first game, Pleasant rallied to win a second set tiebreaker. The deciding set also went to a tiebreaker, this time it was the Rams getting the better of things. Vent and Voorhees won the tiebreaker 7-5 and the game 6-1, 6-7, 7-6. It also catapulted the Rams to a 3-2 match win.
Also for Upper Sandusky, Sara Gier got a win at third singles, 7-5, 6-4 over Hannah Kantzer, and the team of Delaney McQuown and Samantha Pryor beat Evanelley Rodriguez and Emily Curtis 6-4, 6-4.
Pleasant's wins came in the top two singles matches. Missy Dean beat Nadia English 6-0, 6-2 and Jillian Goulet beat Kayla Gault 6-4, 4-6, 7-6.
