Virgil Kisabeth, 83, of Tiffin, passed away at 6:30 a.m. Thursday, July 31, 2014, at St. Francis Nursing Home, Tiffin..
Virgil was born June 4, 1931, in Siam, to Chester A. and Fay Lucinda (Day) Kisabeth. He married Mary McKevitt May 15, 1954, in Southport, England, and she preceded him in death Nov. 4, 2006.
Survivors include his children, Michael (Alice) Kisabeth of Tiffin and Yvonne Schock of Tiffin; four grandchildren, Matthew (Brianne) Schock of Republic, Adam Schock of Perrysburg and Jennifer Schock and Tina Bour, both of Tiffin; and two great-grandchildren, Anthony and Amanda Bour, both of Tiffin.
Virgil was a 1949 graduate of Old Fort High School. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and met his wife, Mary, while stationed in England.
Virgil retired in 1996 from Webster Manufacturing, Tiffin, after 47 years. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church and Tiffin AMVETS. He was a Cleveland sports team fan along with an avid OSU fan. He also enjoyed being a part of harness racing, going to his grandchildren's activities and playing cards with his brother, Forrest, and many friends at the Allen Eiry Center and the AMVETS.
Virgil also was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Forrest J. Kisabeth.
His funeral will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, at Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory, 135 N. Washington St., Tiffin, with the Rev. Gary Hicks officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Tiffin, with military honors being rendered by the United Veterans Council.
Visitation for family and friends will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
