Garrett "Gary" M. Cassidy, 48, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and formerly of Sycamore, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Dec. 17,1964, in Tiffin, to Norman G. and Juanita C. (Peck) Cassidy, who survive in rural Sycamore. He married Jennie (Weininger) Cassidy Aug. 21, 1988, and she survives in Myrtle Beach.
Also surviving are three children, Bryen Cassidy of Myrtle Beach, and Noel and Brittney Cassidy, both of home; his in-laws, Jerry and Ruth Weininger of McCutchenville; two sisters, Michelle Mitchell of Sterling Heights, Michigan, and Rebecca (Brent) Winter of Livonia, Michigan; two nephews, Ethan Mitchell and Seth Winter; and two nieces, Hanna Mitchell and Jordan Winter.
Gary was a police officer for the Coastal Carolina Police Department in Conway, South Carolina. He was a 1983 graduate of Mohawk High School, attended Bowling Green State University and the University of Toledo. He was also a member of Sycamore United Church of Christ. His passion, however, was his family. Whether helping coach his children's sporting events or enjoying quiet moments at home, he cherished his family.
A memorial service for Gary will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2014, at Sycamore United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Robin LaBolt officiating.
