Charles E. Strausbaugh, 58, of Fostoria, died at 9:35 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
He was born Dec. 15, 1955, in Fostoria, to the late E. Glenn and Helen (Shuff) Strausbaugh. He graduated in 1974 from Fostoria High School.
Chuck was retired from the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of the Gulf War. He proudly served his country for 21 years. Following the military, he worked for Norton Manufacturing. He then worked as a contractor for IAP Worldwide Services, spending six years in its Iraq office and two years in Dubai.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 34 years, Barbara (Mora) Strausbaugh; their three children, two daughters, Jill (Aaron) Carte and Valerie (Ron) Beach; and one son, SFC Matthew (Lacey) Strausbaugh. The light of his life was his grandson, Roman James Beach. He has two siblings, Michael (Kathy) Strausbaugh Sr. and Ilene Geary.
Chuck loved travel, history, family and a great cup of coffee. He had a great sense of humor and made a friend of all who met him.
Services are planned for Saturday, June 21, 2014, at Hoening Funeral Home, 242 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, OH 44830, with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. and a service at 11:30 a.m.
Military honors will then take place at Veterans Memorial Chapel of Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria. A gathering will follow at Trinity Chapel, 252 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, and those attending are invited to bring a covered dish.
The family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in care of the funeral home.
