Alice Laugherty

Alice Laugherty, 86, of Tiffin, passed away Sunday morning, June 15, 2014, at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo.

She was born June 15, 1928, in Seneca County, to Merle and Imogene (Owen) Detterman. She married Neil E. Kieffer and he preceded her in death in 1980. She later married William A. Laugherty July 7, 1988, and he preceded her in death in 1993.

Survivors include a son, J.D. Kieffer of Bettsville; five daughters, Candie Hill of Tiffin, Sandra (L. Truett) Lineberger of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Annette "Ann" (Mike) Davidson of Tiffin, Marsha Adkins of Akron and Cheryl Laugherty of Fremont; a sister, Donna J. (V. Wade) Burger of Tiffin; 10 grandchildren, Heidi, Aaron, Stefanie, Damon, Nathan, Vaughn, Kristin, Jessica, Ashley and Allison; 10 great-grandchildren, Andrea, Garrett, Nickolas, Madison, Ian, Rileigh, Levi, Leah, Tyson and Valencia; a great-great-grandchild, Alaura; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Max V. Kieffer; a brother, Calvin W. Detterman; and a granddaughter, Meghan L. Kieffer.

Alice was a member of First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, Tiffin, a 1946 graduate of Melmore High School and a labor delivery aide for years. She enjoyed gardening and traveling, was a member of the Quilt Guild in Tiffin and volunteered for Community Hospice Care. She loved being a grandmother to all of her grandchildren.

Her funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, Tiffin, with the Rev. Doug DeVos officiating. Burial will be private.

Friends may visit with the family from 10:30 a.m. until the time of her funeral Wednesday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center Home Away from Home or First Christian Church.
