A man was incarcerated in Seneca County Jail Sunday after allegedly striking a woman and child while attempting to hit a man during a fight.
Ryan J. Bintz, 30, of Tiffin, was charged with domestic violence, a fourth-degree felony, and endangering children, a first-degree misdemeanor, Saturday night, according to Tiffin Police Department.
According to a police department report, a woman went to the first block of Morningside Drive around 11:15 p.m. Saturday to pick up her 3-year-old daughter. A fight broke out between Bintz, who is the child's father, and a man who had accompanied the girl's mother to the residence.
The report states the woman was holding her child and tried to break up the fight. Bintz, who was trying to hit the man, punched the woman in the nose and leg and struck the girl on her right cheek, it states.
The woman and child sustained minor injuries, and it was believed Bintz accidentally struck them, according to Officer Jake DeMonte of Tiffin Police Department.
Bintz is to appear in Tiffin Municipal Court at 9 a.m. today.
The fourth-degree felony carries a maximum penalty of 18 months in prison and/or a $5,000 fine. The fourth-degree misdemeanor has a maximum penalty of six months in prison and/or a $1,000 fine.
