Security camera footage shows the man believed to have robbed Bettsville's Dollar General Monday morning.
Chief Deputy Ron Green of Seneca County Sheriff's Office said the suspect went over the counter, pointed the gun at the clerk and got away with an undetermined amount of cash. The clerk complied and was not injured, he said.
The release states the suspect fled the store in an unknown direction. A vehicle that may have been involved was described as a faded red 1995 or newer Chevrolet pick-up truck with an extended cab. The vehicle may have a gray interior and bed liner, the release states.
Green said it appeared there was a getaway driver, and that they fled south.
The sheriff's office conducted a search of the area for the suspect and vehicle and was assisted by Bettsville Police Department and State Highway Patrol.
The jacket the suspect was wearing during the robbery was located off the roadway near a woods along CR 31. A deputy also found a polo shirt in a farmer's lane in the vicinity of where the jacket was found.
Officials did not know if it was related, Green said.
"It's been collected, just in case," he said.
The gun had not been recovered by 5 p.m. Monday. Law enforcement did not have any suspects, and Green said he hoped the vehicle and suspect descriptions would produce leads.
Anyone with information about the robbery should call the sheriff's office at (419) 447-3456.
