Richard Lee "Dick" Borer, 80, of Greencastle, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2014.
He was born Sept. 17, 1933, in Tiffin, the son of Raymond and Susanna (Binder) Borer. He was a graduate of St. Joseph Catholic High School, Fremont, and attended West Valley Junior College, Campbell, California. He married Velma Marie (Adams) Borer July 14, 1956, and she survives.
Richard was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Air Force, and received a Presidential Citation from President Eisenhower. He worked at IBM for more than 31 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, VFW, American Legion, Eagles Lodge and Moose Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Borer; three children, Annette Friend, Brian (Donna) Borer and Kevin Borer; four grandchildren, Brandon (Ashley) Friend, Chad (Danielle) Friend, Brittany (Lynn Novaski) Borer and Noah Borer; and two great-grandchildren, David Friend and Lily Friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Art and Donald Borer.
A Mass of Christian burial will begin at 11 a.m. Monday, June 9, 2014, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Greencastle. Military honors will follow services at the church.
