Bennie Ray Mathis, 65, of Clyde, died Sunday, April 20, 2014, at The Bellevue Hospital.
He was born Jan. 12, 1949, in Middlesboro, Ky., to Isaac Calvin and Elsie Bernice (Cox) Mathis. He married Brenda (Hupp) Brown Mathis May 20, 1994, in Clyde, and she survives.
Also surviving are four children, Bobbi Jo (Mike) Adkins of Fremont, Jason Mathis of Vickery, Melissa (Sam) Fisher of Bellevue and Kyle Stang of Clyde; five grandchildren; and four siblings, Mary (Sue) Lindsey of Huron, Fred (Pat) Mathis and Judy Daugherty, both of Fremont, and Debbie (Bob) Milleson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Vonda Lou (Perkins) Mathis; a son, Wesley James Mathis; a sister, Juanita Leers; and a brother, James "Joe" Mathis.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m Thursday, April 24, at Foos Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 504 E. McPherson Highway, Clyde.
His funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Block Cemetery, Republic.
