TCS development committee to meet

Tiffin City Schools Board of Education's Local Professional Development Committee is to meet at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Administration Building.

BC board to meet

NEW WASHINGTON - Buckeye Central Board of Education is to have a special meeting at 6 p.m. Monday at the school, located at 938 S. Kibler St.

The board is to consider an approval of an agreement with Watch TV. The board also is to enter into executive session to consider the appointment, employment, dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion or compensation of a public employee or official.

Alumni banquet tickets on sale

SYCAMORE - Tickets are now on sale for the Sycamore Alumni Banquet at 6:30 p.m Saturday at Mohawk Local Schools.

Tickets can be purchased at Keller Hardware in Sycamore or by calling (419) 927-4174.

Annual treasure hunt set

Tiffin Calvert Athletic Boosters is to sponsor the annual Treasure Hunt at 6 p.m. May 10.

Registration is $90 per carload of six people. There is a limit of 50 cars.

Registration forms are available at Calvert Catholic High School.

High School spring concert

Tiffin Columbian High School choirs are to present their Spring Concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

BCA to host more 'Open Days'

Bridges Community Academy is to host two Open Door Fridays 9-10:30 a.m. and 1-2 p.m. Friday and May 16.

Open enrollment begins in Fostoria

FOSTORIA Fostoria City Schools are to begin accepting applications for students interested in enrolling at Longfellow, Riley and Fostoria Intermediate Elementary schools; or Fostoria Junior/Senior High School for the 2014-15 school year.

Applications are to be available beginning Monday. Applications are to be returned between May 1-31.

Open enrollment at Carey to begin

CAREY - Carey Exempted Village Schools are to be accepting applications for open enrollment May 1-31.

Students who already attend Carey through open enrollment need to reapply each year within the same time frame.

Old Fort kindergarten screening set

OLD FORT Old Fort Elementary School is to hold its kindergarten screening Friday by appointment only.

Students are to be 5 years old by Aug. 1.

TC fundraiser

The Tiffin Columbian High School fundraiser "Tornado Pride Drive" continus through May 9.

Proceeds go toward academic opportunities such as field trips, academic awards, updated technology, classroom supplies, school activities and other student incentives.

For those interested, with a donation of $25, a personalized line message can be displayed on a banner, on the digital television in Columbian's lobby, in the 2013-14 year book and on the TCHS website, Facebook and Twitter pages.

TMS students of the month

Tiffin Middle School has announced the students of the month for March.

The students include Emma Bickford, Patrick Marquis, Morgan Stahl, Kennedy Coots, Cassidy Brown, Alyssa Hepperly, Brianna Langley, Paige Nimocks, Jared Akers, Hailiey Baker, Alex Beuoy and Chloe Snook.

Engineering scholarship available

Two high school seniors are eligible for a National Machinery Engineering Scholarship.

Students should be enrolled or plan to enroll with an accredited college or university for a bachelor of science mechanical engineering degree.

Students with parents employed with National Machinery LLC are not eligible.

Students are to submit a registration form, high school transcript and letter of recommendation from a school official.

Application deadline is Wednesday and winners will be selected May 14.

Vogel to advance in equine competition

SYCAMORE Katie Vogel, ninth-grader at Mohawk High School, has qualified for the regional competition in the Interscholastic Equestrian Association Zone K, Region 4, western horsemanship competition in May.

Mohawk FFA hosts annual banquet

Mohawk FFA held its 56th annual banquet April 10 at Mohawk High School. The meal was catered by Special Occasions.

The top salespeople - Meghan Chaffee, Morgan Edgington. Jena Baum and Ciara Long - in the fruit and annual fall barbeque sales received awards.

Freshman Nathan Kimmet, sophomore Paige Sigler, junior Chaffee and senior Sabrina McDermott received a scholarship for academic excellence. Members who received leadership scholarships were Baum, McKenzie Binau, Jonathon Daniel, Edgington, Katie Pinkston, Emily Pursell, Vanessa Stull and Katie Vogel.

Members who received Greenhand Degrees were Binau, Daniel, Natalie Ford, Hevean Imele, Kaela Kozel, Kimmet, Pursell, Vogel, Brooke Weinandy, Carson Weinandy, Ethan Weir and Jace Welter. Members that received their Chapter Degree were Baum, Caleb Bollinger, Tori Chaney, Megan Cleveland, Edgington, Bleac Kearns, Cambria Kohlenberg, Joanie Lininger, Megan Ohl, Pinkston, Logan Reinhart, Sigler, Dominic Smith, Sara Spencer, Stull and Jordan Wheeler. Members who are to receive the State Degree in May are Chaffee, Long and Lydia Coldiron. Members who are to receive the American Degree in October are Lindsay Daniel, Grant Price and Darby Walton.

The Star Chapter award was given to Edgington. The Outstanding Junior Award was presented to Chaffee. Senior Emily Daniel received the DeKalb Award. Lininger received the honorary Chapter Degree.

Mohawk graduate and FFA member Jarred Shellhouse addressed the crowd. He serves as the Ohio State FFA treasurer.

Officers for 2014-2015 were installed, including Chaffee, president; Sigler, vice president; Baum, secretary; Bri Thiery, treasurer; Lininger, reporter; Cleveland, sentinel; Stull, student adviser; Edgington, historian.
