Dorothy M. Gottfried

Dorothy M. Gottfried, 90, of Melmore, died at 7 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at her home.

She was born Feb. 20,1924, in Clinton Township, Tiffin, to Ralph L. and Clara (Smith) Webster. She married Warren J. Gottfried Dec. 15, 1943, and he preceded her in death June 3,1980.

She is survived by four daughters and one son, Virginia (David) Fadley of rural Wharton, Coletta (Carl) McCue of rural Tiffin, Joyce (Stanley) Brown of Tiffin, Jannice (Michael) Aken of Sandusky and Dennis (Robin) Gottfried of rural Sycamore; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Gottfried of Bucyrus; 14 grandchildren, Brent Fadley, Todd Fadley, Melissa (Fadley) McWilliams, Charlotte (McCue) Michaels, Catherine (McCue) Yambert, Christine (McCue) Risner, Heidi (Gottfried) Kauffman, Heather (Gottfried) Reynolds, Holly (Gottfried) Motil, Nichole (Gottfried) Johnson, Jessica Gottfried, Devin Gottfried, Jason Aken and Andrew Aken; and 27 great-grandchildren and are expecting the birth of four more this year.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Mark Gottfried; a grandson, Robbie Gottfried; a brother, Clarence Webster; and a sister, Hazel Gottfried.

She graduated from Eden Township Centralized School, Seneca County, was a member of Melmore United Methodist Church, was a seamstress and worked for JoAnn Fabric Store, Tiffin, for 16 years. She was one of the first three women school bus drivers for the Mohawk School District and drove for 20 years.

A funeral for Dorothy will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Melmore United Methodist Church with the Rev. Thomas Grover and the Rev. Jane-Ann Clarke officiating. Burial will follow at Rock Creek Cemetery, Seneca County. Dorothy's body will lie in state at the church from 10-11 a.m. Saturday.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, 201 W. Saffel Ave., Sycamore, (419) 927-6252.

Memorial contributions can be made to either Hospice of Wyandot County or to the Mark Gottfried Scholarship Fund through the Melmore United Methodist Church.
