Deacons to be honored
A vocations Mass and holy hour are planned for 8:30 a.m. today at St. Joseph Church in Tiffin for Paul Schreiner, George Mahas and Scott Woods. The three men are to be ordained as transitional deacons at 7 p.m. April 11 at Our Lady of Consolation in Carey.

Biblical oils explained
A class on "Healing Oils of the Bible" is to be offered at 7 p.m. Monday in Room 22 at St. Mary School. Beverly Martin is to explain the benefits of the oils, spices and ointments that are mentioned in the Bible.
The class is free.
Sale to support pro-life cause
FOSTORIA - A Right to Life rummage sale is planned for April 9-11 in the basement of the Fostoria Knights of Columbus, 445 W. Center St. One room is to be filled with clothing of all sizes and a second room is to have a variety of items.
Funds raised at the sale are to be used to assist area residents with pregnancies. The final day is "bag day." Shoppers can fill a bag for $1.
Donations for the sale are to be accepted 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.
Walk for life
The Friends of Heartbeat is inviting all to walk in support of the sanctity of life at 9 a.m. April 12. Walkers of all ages can register at 8:30 a.m. at Calvert High School, 152 Madison St., for the 2-mile course.
Participants are asked to get pledges for Heartbeat's anti-abortion work in Tiffin. Beverages and healthy snacks are to be available, as well as face painting and balloons. Heartbeat staff members, board members and volunteers are to be on hand to meet with the public.
Baked goods for sale
A bake sale is set for 9 a.m.-noon April 12 at Rural King in Tiffin. This is a benefit for The Salvation Army.
CAREY - The Our Lady of Consolation National Shrine volunteer bakery, under the direction of the Rev. Paul Faroh, is to sell its wares Saturday and Sunday and April 12 and 13 in the OLC information booth across from the basilica.
Hours are 4-7 p.m. Saturdays and 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Sundays. Pick up seasonal items, pizzas, homemade potato chips, breads, coffee cakes, pies, noodles and cookies. Proceeds benefit a proposed OLC elevator.
Steak on the First Christian menu
First Christian Church, 2016 S. CR 19, is to serve a baked steak dinner 4-7 p.m. April 12. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children ages 6-12.

Singers present 'His Last Days'
The Kansas St. James Choral Group has two more performances of the Lenten drama, "His Last Days." At 6:30 p.m. April 13, the performers are to be at the United Church of Christ, 31 N. Marion St. (SR 19), Bloomville. The final presentation is at 8 p.m. April 18 at Kansas St. James, 6482 CR 2, Fostoria.
The free program is suitable for people of all ages and lasts about 45 minutes. A charitable offering is to be collected at each performance.
Harmony to present 'Easter Song'
The Harmony Easter Cantata Choir is to give its annual musical presentation at 7:30 p.m. Palm Sunday. "The Easter Song" is a musical presentation that dramatizes the serving, suffering and saving of Christ.
Directing the 35-voice choir is Dana Riedel, with assistant Sandra Detterman and pianist Deborah Long.
There is no admission fee; however, an offering is to be accepted. The church is at CR 6 and CR 19, four miles south of Tiffin, and is handicapped accessible.
Workshop planned for caregivers
FOSTORIA - Good Shepherd Home is to host Loving Well through Difficult Times, a workshop by Susan Parrish Sprowl. The free program is 7-8 p.m. April 23 in the lower level at the home. It is aimed at family members and friends of older adults in crisis.
With more than 30 years of experience, Sprowl is to offer tips on ways to care for the elderly and caring for oneself in the process.

Events on tap at St. Francis
The Black Swamp Conservancy concert with the Toledo Symphony Woodwind Quintet has been rescheduled for 7-8 p.m. April 24 in the convent chapel.
Come at 5 p.m. and tour the straw bale house before the concert. The SpiritSpace Gift Shop in the Spirituality Center also is to be open 5-6:30 p.m.

Toward A Council of All Beings is set for April 25 through noon April 27 at St. Francis Spirituality Center.
Facilitated by Jane Frances Omlor, OSF, the workshop is to focus on the relationship of humans to creation in general and ways to care for the earth.

Concert to support St. Vincent dePaul
FOSTORIA - In 2013, the St. Vincent dePaul Society of Fostoria assisted more than 1,600 clients to keep their utilities from being shut off. Transportation, prescriptions, legal aid, work clothing, household items and emergency housing are other areas in which help was given.
Members of the society have planned a benefit concert by pianist Bob Milne at 7 p.m. May 2 in St. Wendelin Parish Life Center, 323 N. Wood St., Fostoria. Milne specializes in ragtime, boogie-woogie, blues and player-piano styles from the early 1900s. His performance includes historical notes and stories about the songs he performs.
