Mary Bowling, 83, of Tiffin and formerly Republic and Attica, died Monday morning, March 31, 2014, at the home of her daughter, Chris Cahill of Tiffin.
She was born Oct. 12, 1930, in Republic, to Harry V. and M. Pauline (Hepperly) Kagy. She married Curtis Hershberger in 1949 and he died in 1972. She later married Ned Bowling in 1978 and he preceded her in death in 1998.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Chris (Ken) Cahill of Tiffin; four sons, Jim (Rusty) Hershberger of Tiffin, Thomas (Chris) Hershberger of Westerville, Curt (Jerri) Hershberger of Norwalk and Stephen Hershberger of Holgate; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Mary Kagy of Bloomville and Mrs. Boots (Max) Hunshaw of Nebraska.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bob and Skip Kagy; a sister, Ellie Johnson; and a son, Leonard Reed.
She was a former employee at GE, Tiffin, and a homemaker. She was an avid bingo and card player. She also enjoyed quilting and being with her grandchildren.
Her funeral will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2014, at Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR 19, Bloomville, with the Rev. Cathy Wirth officiating. Burial will follow at Farewell Retreat Cemetery, Republic.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
