H-L rallies in seventh
BASCOM - Hopewell-Loudon pushed across the game-winner in the bottom of the seventh Monday for a 4-3 season-opening victory against Norwalk St. Paul.
The Flyers scored all three of their runs in the first inning, but H-L plated two in the fourth and one in the fifth to tie the game.
Tyler Imes picked up the win for the Chieftains.
Jordan Stewart, Ryan Depinet, Austin Tooker and Ryan Steinmetz each singled for H-L.
Holsinger leads the way for Carey
NORTH ROBINSON - Matt Holsinger doubled in a run to get Carey going early and fanned seven in a complete-game effort Monday as the Blue Devils doubled up Colonel Crawford 4-2.
Holsinger's run-scoring double came in a four-run first inning for the Blue Devils. He also scored.
Satchel Strahm, Brady Mullholand and Dylan Musgrave each added a single and run for Carey, and Jonathon Racheter and Cody Ferguson both had a single and RBI. Marcus O'Flaherty singled.
Holsinger scattered three hits, three walks and one earned run.
The Eagles scored single runs in the second and fourth innings.
Mohawk strikes early, often against Monroeville
SYCAMORE- Derrick Sowers and Austin Harper scored three runs each as Mohawk made an emphatic statement on opening day, defeating Monroeville, 10-0.
The Warriors came out of the gate with five runs in the first inning. Mohawk batted around in the inning, with Harper, Sowers, Austin Shock, Logan Hartsel and Devon Fredritz all crossing the plate. Fredritz, Luke Gillig and Jacob McMillion drove home the runs.
Mohawk scored two more in the fourth and three in the fifth to end the game.
Shock was awarded the win with four innings pitched with five strikeouts and two hits.
