TU Powers past McKendree
LEBANON, Ill. - Tiffin University's lacrosse team made a strong defensive showing en route to a 16-9 victory over McKendree University Saturday afternoon.
The Dragons came out of gate with a 3-0 run in the first four minutes of the game.
With the assist of Gina Abulone, Alexis Macmillan was first to strike for TU with two goals. Abulone extended the lead with a goal as well to keep the advantage.
McKendree was quick to answer back scoring four consecutive goals.
At the 16:04 mark, TU's Emily Roussel knotted the game 4-4.
The Dragons fired in five goals on a 5-2 run to end the half with a 9-6 advantage.
In the second half, TU edged out the Bearcats 5-2 to secure the victory.
TU held a slight 31-30 shot advantage and an 18-4 ground ball edge while also forcing 20 McKendree turnovers.
Roussel led the Dragons with five goals, four assists with six ground balls. Abulone finished with three goals with two assists while Morgan Sherley posted four goals.
Jessica Bombard had 16 saves in goal in the Dragons' win.
Eifel leads 'Berg golfers
ZANESVILLE - Jack Eifel tied for 18th to lead Heidelberg's golf efforts at the Muskingum Invitational, held Friday and Saturday at Eagle Sticks.
Eifel carded a 160 for the Student Princes, who finished sixth with 671.
Mark Anderson tied for 35th with a 165 for Heidelberg, Andres Martine shot a 172 and Vito Scuito had a 176. Chase Hushour (179) also played for Heidelberg.
Otterbein took the team title with a 587 on the strength of David Monaco's medalist score of 139.
Kenyon College tied the host Muskies at 623 for second, with Baldwin Wallace holding off Ohio Northern 625-630 for fourth.
