Outlook: Much like Michael Bolton, Upper Sandusky is looking to go the distance.

Distance runners Solis and Miller return to lead a Ram team eager to improve on last year's fourth place NCC showing.

Both were members of the league champion 4x800 team and Solis took the league title in the 800.

"Dom looks really good so far and Garrett's starting to get in shape," Arnold said. "Both had good cross country seasons, qualifying for regionals. They were second and third in the NCC."

Along with distance events, Arnold is looking for a lot of points to come in the field events.

"We have some good quality in a lot of areas," he said. "We have some good jumpers. Heath Luikart was second in NCC in the high jump. Also there's Collin Gardner is right up there in the shot. We should be competitive in all the field events and distance runs."

Arnold's squad boasts a solid group of returning throwers, and should be even better this year with the arrival of Shane Pack, last year's junior high state champion in the discus.

"He's been doing really well," Arnold said. "He's been hitting the weights. He was a football player, and has been lifting weights since football's been over. He's lifting hard, really working out. He's bigger and stronger this year. He's adapted to high school discus pretty easily.

"Some other throwers already that are decent throwers, he's right there with our guys that are juniors. He could be top discus thrower by end of the year."

Arnold has only four seniors on his roster, but also has a nice group of juniors to help out with the leadership.

"Our seniors we have are great kids, good leaders," he said. "Some are just coming out for the first time, but they're hard workers. Those juniors, we have 16 juniors, Dom's been a leader for a long time. Cody Clifford's in there now helping lead the kids. All of them are leading by example."
