New Riegel Boys Track

March 28, 2014
The Advertiser-Tribune

Coach: Alana Stevens

2013: Eighth in MAL

Returning letterwinners: Junior Tim Ink (lj/sprints). Sophomore Devin Reinhart (throws/hurdles).

Others: Senior Kyle Weaver (throws/sprints). Sophomore Robert Norville (sprints). Freshmen Bradley Eddington (throws/mile); Dylan Reinhart (hurdles).

Outlook: Stevens knows she doesn't have large numbers this season.

So, she said, the Blue Jackets will be focusing on individual improvement.

"The boys have been working really hard, and we're gonna be focusing a lot on individual events, reaching personal goals." she said. "But, we do want some of those individuals to advance in tournaments."

If Ink improves, he could end up in Columbus. The long jumper made regionals last season, the only New Riegel boy to do so.

He's also the team's most experienced returning letterwinner, and Stevens said he'll be counted on to be a leader.

"He's our oldest and most experienced athlete out there," Stevens said. "He went to regionals last year in long jump and we look for big things.

"I think the other boys, they all mesh well, they're all ready to learn," she said. "It's a year of gaining experience."
