Mervin J. Keegan, 98, of Green Springs, died Thursday, March 20, 2014, at his home. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.
Mr. Keegan was born Feb. 15, 1916, in Vickery, to Frederick and Bessie (Opper) Keegan. He married Alice Louise Swartz Dec. 11, 1940, and she preceded him in death June 7, 1998.
Survivors include three sons, Donald Keegan and Ronald Keegan, both of Fremont, and David Keegan of Green Springs; five daughters, Karen Bauman of Green Springs, Sandra (Paul) Danlefsen and Darlene Hollis, both of Fremont, Cinda Stout of Green Springs and Kimberly (Michael) Clevinger of Republic; 25 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Lytle "Gug" Keegan of Green Springs.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Harvey, Ivan, Rollie and Alva Keegan; and five sisters, Voledia Otto, Opal Hoke, Helen Nye, Doris Franks and Bertha Cook.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 S. Main St., Clyde. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde, with military honors.
His funeral will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
