Clarence Eugene ‘Curly’ St. Marie

Clarence Eugene "Curly" St. Marie, 79, of Marblehead, passed away peacefully Monday, March 17, 2014, at Otterbein North Shore Retirement Center, Lakeside, with his family by his side.

He was born Feb. 17, 1935, in Sandusky, the son of Clarence J. and LeNora Josephine (Christiansen) St. Marie. He married Barbara Ann Carp in 1961 and she preceded him in death March 17, 1998. He then married Delores "Dee" Burns Aug. 18, 2000, and she survives.

Curly was a veteran of the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, he worked as a tool and die maker at Ford Motor Co., Sandusky, until his retirement.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marblehead, where he served as an usher and a greeter. He also was a member of Stanley Jadwisiak VFW Post No. 7572, Marblehead, Knights of Columbus and Port Clinton Elks Lodge No. 1718.

Survivors also include his four daughters, Laurie (Dave) Mandella of Hawaii, Linda (Bob) Mraz of Strongsville, Julie (Brian) Wright of Maumee and Amy (Steve) Irving of Tiffin; a stepdaughter, Karen (Nick) Marino of Maryland; two stepsons, Michael (Mary Beth) Longo of Strongsville and Gary Walker of Mentor; seven grandchildren, Brittany Mazur, Samantha Mraz, Stephanie Mraz, Stacey Mraz, Patrick Wright, Anna Wright and David Irving; seven stepgrandchildren, Michael (Lana) Longo, Christopher (Jill) Longo, Nicholas Longo, Nicole (Steve) Rice, Julie Walker, Joseph Marino and Nicholas (Caitlin) Marino; four stepgreat-grandchildren, Cheyane Longo, Ava Longo, Hayden Rice and Kendall Rice; and a brother, James St. Marie of Port Clinton.

He also was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Maryanne; stepson, James Walker; and brother, Donald St. Marie.

Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2014, at Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Peninsula Chapel, 7755 E. Harbor Road, Lakeside-Marblehead, (419) 732-0909, where members of the St. Joseph Altar-Rosary Society will pray the rosary at 7 p.m.

Additional visitation will be 9 a.m. until his Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 Barclay St., Marblehead, with Father Daniel J. Ring officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Marblehead, with military honors presented by members of VFW Post No. 7572.
